Some 120 heads of cattle will leave St. Vincent and the Grenadines for  Grenada today, Monday 7th October as part of the ongoing cattle trade between the two countries. A release from the Ministry of Agriculture states that this would bring the total number of cattle exported to Grenada to 300 for the year.

Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar, said that in February the Government took the policy decision to increase the export of cattle.  He said that this is being done through a well-structured and regulated system, with the Veterinary Division having oversight responsibilities for the program.

Currently, the Minister of Agriculture is advancing discussions with both the Governments of New Zealand and Argentina as it relates to technical assistance in cattle production.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines has also received a request from the Government of St. Lucia to initiate trade in cattle from St. Vincent and the Grenadines before the end of the year.
