Plans are in the air to launch a National Vanilla Production Project in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. This announcement came from Agriculture  Minister, Saboto Ceasar, during an interview with NBC Radio.

Minister Caesar explained that vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the world outside of saffron. He said that he sees the significant prospects in this country as it does not require any sort of mechanisation to produce vanilla, which is in great demand worldwide.

Mr. Caesar also noted that there is an excellent opportunity for a cocoa, condiments and spice sector in this country. He further stated that efforts continue to collaborate with the Grenadian Government to reinvigorate the nutmeg industry here.
