A census of St. Vincent and the Grenadines' national bird, Amazona Guildingii, (St. Vincent Parrot), will soon be carried out.

Director of Forestry, Mr. Fitzgerald Providence, said that the census will be conducted to determine its population in the wild following a recently held exercise carried out at Rabacca, around the proposed site for the extraction of geothermal energy.

Mr. Providence also said that the objective of that exercise was to ensure that the national bird population would not be adversely affected by the National Geothermal Project.
